Electrical Design Engineer responsibilities:
- Architect and build the electronic systems that bring next-generation robots to life—focusing on sensor integration, computing hardware, and power management.
- Leverage strong analytical skills to dissect circuit behavior, troubleshoot electrical faults, and guide improvements across complex hardware systems.
- Design and layout PCBs using Altium, ensuring each board meets demanding performance, reliability, and production standards.
- Write and refine embedded software using C and hardware description languages to bring functionality to microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
- Navigate Linux environments via the command line to manage networks, deploy code, and interact directly with robotic systems during testing cycles.
- Use lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, programmable power supplies, and spectrum analyzers to validate prototypes and solve technical challenges.
- Partner with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to create cohesive, high-performance robotic platforms through seamless hardware integration.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or an adjacent technical field (BS or MS).
- Experience working with high-speed interfaces like PCIe, Ethernet, or EtherCAT in embedded or board-level systems.
- Background in designing robust power electronics—covering areas like circuit protection, power conversion, and smart energy distribution.
- Proficiency in PCB layout and schematic capture using tools like Altium Designer.
- Familiarity with embedded programming across a variety of platforms and architectures, using languages like C and HDL.
- Comfort working with circuit simulations and diagnostic tools to analyze and debug electronic systems.
- Exposure to scripting or technical computing environments such as Python, C++, MATLAB, or LabView.
- Some experience with 3D mechanical design tools like SolidWorks is a plus.
- Knowledge of digital logic design using Verilog or VHDL for programmable logic devices.
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with Linux at the kernel level or contributed to driver development.
